Food Animal - Our Team

Karen is a long time employee at our Listowel location and started in 1977. Her primary responsibility is large animal receptionist. Karen was born and raised in the Listowel area and currently resides on a beef farm outside of Gowanstown with her husband Don, their daughter Amber and Henry and JR the cats. Karen has really enjoyed raising her own flock of chickens. They are now producing their own eggs! She is also really enjoying being a Grandma.

Alexis graduated from the Veterinary Office Administration Program at the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus in May 2014.  She joined our team in January 2015 where she works both in reception and dairy farm data entry. She lives outside of Brussels with her parents and her Victorian Bulldog Dozer.  Alexis has been working around her Grandparents farm with beef cows and horses for her entire life.  In her spare time she enjoys riding horses and working on the farm.  She is excited to be a part of the Heartland Team!

Crystal graduated from Northern College-Haileybury Campus in May 2004. After graduating Crystal worked in a small animal practice in Elora until she joined the Heartland team in October 2016. Crystal grew up on a dairy farm outside of Kenilworth and always knew she would work in veterinary medicine. With her years of experience in the dairy industry she was very excited when the opportunity came up to become a member of our large animal team. She now divides her time between farm visits and small animal at both our Listowel and Mount Forest location.  Crystal lives in Listowel with her husband Dave and their 2 girls Avery and Cassidy. When Crystal isn't at work she keeps busy taking her kids to figure skating and spending as much time outside as the day will allow.

Sharyl joined the Heartland team in 2008 as our Embryologist. She received her Bachelor of Science and Agriculture (Major: Animal Science) from the University of Guelph. Sharyl and her husband Roger have two boys, Keith and Luke. The furry companions in their family are a dog, Daisy and cats named Pigeon, Boots, Tiger and Foxy.  Sharyl enjoys being a hockey, soccer and baseball mom and loves to curl in her "spare" time.  She and her husband have recently purchased a farm with a stone house, so will be busy renovating for the next 20+ years. They are hoping to expand the livestock part of the farm with some grass eating creatures in the future.
