Services Offered

We provide veterinary care for your companions in our Small Animal Hospitals in Listowel, Mount Forest, and Drayton. You can view our list of provided services below. If you have any questions about our offered services, please contact us.

Pet Wellness and Vaccinations

We understand the importance of the special bonds that our clients share with their pets. Our primary focus at Heartland Animal Hospital is to practice preventive medicine and to apply wellness protocols that extend the life and improve the quality of life of your pet. We tailor our pet wellness and vaccination programs to meet your pet’s specific needs based on breed, age, and lifestyle considerations.

Our “evidence-based” approach to veterinary medicine means our healthcare advice is based on the latest scientific studies on disease prevention.

Small Animal Surgical Services
Our animal health-care team is equipped to offer a variety of routine (e.g., spay and neuter) and more complex (e.g., c-section, orthopedics) surgical procedures. Our anesthetic, pain management, and surgical monitoring protocols help ensure your pet is comfortable and healthy before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Pet Dental Care

Your pet’s oral health is directly connected to their overall health. Signs of dental disease include bad breath, loose, broken, or missing teeth, yellow or brown teeth, red, inflamed, or bleeding gums, difficulty or pain when chewing, pawing at the mouth, and excessive drooling. If you notice any of these symptoms, please contact our team, and we’ll be happy to help.

We are proud that we have the most up-to-date equipment to treat dental disease, including digital dental x-rays. This allows us to detect if there is any disease beneath the gum line that we would not be able to see otherwise. We are often able to see undetected abscesses, broken teeth, resorbed roots, retained roots, and more, thanks to dental radiographs.

Small Animal Nutrition

We understand the challenges pet owners face in selecting an appropriate and wholesome diet for their animal companions. Our animal health care team is equipped with the knowledge and skills to help you select a diet that meets your pet’s needs. We carry a wide array of foods that are backed by years of clinical research.

Parasite Prevention
We are happy to offer products to help protect your pets from both external parasites (fleas and ticks) and internal parasites (worms). Our knowledgeable staff is happy to discuss a prevention plan with you to suit your pet and help set your treatment schedule. Recommendations are based on your pet’s age, weight, and home environment. Be sure to contact the clinic to learn more about parasite prevention for your pet.
Radiography

Your pet’s wellbeing is always our priority, and often they can be fighting battles internally that we can not see in our physical exam. Our animal health team is equipped to offer digital x-ray to properly diagnose various conditions such as internal injuries, fractures, infections, and many others. We are lucky enough to be able to transfer these images to our computer software to look back on if ever needed. We are also happy to have our ultrasound machine at the clinic as well to get a better view at organ tissues, fetuses, or even the heart.

Microchipping

Heartland is happy to offer microchipping to our small animal patients. Microchipping is the process of using a small needle to place a unique chip under the animal’s skin, typically located between the shoulder blades. The unique chip has a number on it that can be scanned by any vet clinic and traced back to the owner. Here at Heartland, we include the registration of all paperwork in our fees to ensure your pet is leaving the clinic with a valid microchip already registered to you.
